Stuart Quinlan

Deputy Active Underwriter and Head of Professional Lines

Stuart Quinlan joined Hamilton at Lloyd’s from Barbican Syndicate where he held the roles of Head of Specialty and Deputy Active Underwriter. He was responsible for the Syndicate’s Financial Institutions, Directors & Officers, Professional Indemnity, Cyber and Healthcare/MedMal lines as well as International and North American Casualty reinsurance.

Stuart was recruited by Zurich plc in 2007 to develop their financial lines business including returning their UK Solicitors Professional Indemnity book to profitability. He was then appointed Zurich’s Chief Underwriting Officer, Professional Indemnity, Europe General Insurance, with responsibility for this business across Europe until he left in 2012.

In 2004, Stuart was recruited to join Novae as Underwriting Director for their MGA helping to transform this into an independently authorised and rated insurance company.

He started his career at Royal & SunAlliance twenty five years ago undertaking a range of roles and ultimately being appointed UK Business Manager, Professional and Financial Risks leading this business for the UK.
