Hamilton Announces Developments in ILS Platform
HAMILTON, Bermuda, January 7, 2020 – Hamilton Insurance Group, Ltd. (“Hamilton”; “the Company”) today announced that its insurance-linked securities (ILS) platform has a new name and a new lead executive.
Formerly called Hamilton Capital Partners, the platform is now Hamilton ILS. Hanni Ali moves from his role as Senior Vice President, Risk & Analytics, Hamilton Re, Ltd., to the newly established role of Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships. Mr. Ali will report directly to President, Strategic Partnerships Jonathan Reiss.
“I’m delighted to announce this new role for Hanni as well as the new name for our ILS platform, which more accurately reflects the objectives we have for this component of our Strategic Partnerships unit,” said Mr. Reiss. “Hanni’s previous position touched all aspects of our business in Bermuda, including our third-party capital initiative, and he’s quickly established himself as a trusted and knowledgeable advisor to our current and potential investors.
“In particular, Hanni played a key role in the recent renewal of our sidecar, Turing Re, and, among other initiatives, will coordinate our future cat bond placements. We believe that under Hanni’s management, Hamilton ILS has the potential to develop into a preferred choice for investors.”
Mr. Ali joined Hamilton Re, Ltd. in July 2014, securing a promotion to SVP, Risk & Analytics in May 2019. Previously, he worked for two years with Allied World Assurance Company where he was responsible for developing pricing and portfolio accumulation, reporting and analytics systems, and the pricing of inwards and outwards reinsurance contracts.
Between 2008 and 2012, Mr. Ali worked for Montpelier Re where he was involved in the establishment of Montpelier’s Lloyd’s Syndicate 5151 and associated Managing Agent, supporting underwriting and risk management of binders, treaty, retro, direct and facultative business.
Prior to entering the reinsurance sector, Mr. Ali worked for four years in London’s financial services sector, developing equity, commodity and foreign exchange pricing models. He also ran his own startup, developing High Performance Computing (HPC) systems.
Mr. Ali holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Imperial College, London, England. He is an Associate of the Royal College of Science (ARCS), an Associate Member of the Institute of Physics and an associate of the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS).
